Johansson Fears Album Backlash From Waits

Actress Scarlett Johansson is desperate to launch her album of Tom Waits covers - because she's anxious for the singer/songwriter's approval. Johansson, 23, will make her album debut with a compilation of the singer's hits when her record Anywhere I Lay My Head is released in the U.S. next week. The album will feature vocals from David Bowie - who has praised her musical talents - but Johansson admits she has yet to receive approval from Waits himself. She tells the New York Post, "When I was presented with the idea, the ultimate goal was to not get chased down by Tom Waits and get my ass beat in a bar. I've heard from people who are friends with him that he's very pleased with it. He's been really supportive - not from the sidelines, but from a far, far distance. It was constantly in the back of my mind that if we did something Tom Waits hated, he'd come at me with a hammer." Waits, 58, announced his own U.S. tour in an online press conference earlier this month.

Naomi Campbell - Campbell Charged With Assault

Supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL has been charged with assaulting two police officers in relation to an incident on a British Airways (BA) plane in April (08).

The catwalk beauty was arrested at London's Heathrow airport last month (Apr08) following a dispute over her luggage, which was lost in the airport's recent Terminal 5 baggage handling fiasco.

Campbell reported to Heathrow police station on Thursday (29May08), where she faced a total of five charges - including three counts of assaulting a constable, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of using abusive language to the airplane crew. Police confirmed the assault charge was related to her actions toward two officers.

The 38-year-old was bailed to re-appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court, west London on 20 June (08).

Campbell's lawyer, Simon Nicholls, says, "Miss Campbell is bitterly disappointed that the prosecutors have advised her she is to be prosecuted for various offences.

"Prosecutors in this case have decided she needs to be prosecuted in the magistrates court. She respects that decision and she hopes this matter is dealt with expeditiously."

It is not the first time Campbell has found herself in trouble with the law over her fiery temper - last year (07) she was sentenced to community service at New York's sanitation department after she was convicted of assaulting her maid with her Blackberry cell phone.

The 27-year-old is said to be concentrating on his music career after splitting from supermodel Kate Moss and attempting to stay out of trouble with the law.
He is currently working on his debut solo album and has played several small shows over the past few months.
He recently offered his support to troubled singer Amy Winehouse but was branded a "scumbag" by her father and warned to stay away.
